India is poised to become the world’s third-largest economy, driven by a young population and significant reforms like the ‘Make in India’ initiative. With a projected GDP growth to $30 trillion by 2047, it is positioned as a global manufacturing hub.

In a speech later published on the Consulate’s official website, Mr Mathur noted that India’s current GDP, estimated at USD 4 trillion, is projected to grow nearly eightfold to USD 30 trillion by 2047. He emphasised that this trajectory is bolstered by India’s demographic advantage, with a large and youthful population forming the backbone of its economic potential.

Mr Mathur attributed this rapid growth to a combination of policy initiatives and structural reforms, particularly the government’s ‘Make in India’ campaign launched in 2014. The initiative aims to position India as a global manufacturing hub through a suite of incentives, including concessional loans, tax rebates, and the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme. He said that the recent measures taken by the government are indeed revolutionary, promoting indigenisation efforts in ship building, private participation in nuclear power sector, while at the same time underscored the government’s efforts to boost domestic consumption by offering tax relief to India’s burgeoning middle class — currently estimated at 400 million people and regarded as one of the largest globally.

The other delegations, led by Congress’s Shashi Tharoor, DMK’s K Kanimozhi, NCP (SP)’s Supriya Sule, BJP’s Baijayant Panda and BJP’s Ravi Shankar Prasad, will be leaving over the next few days.

As part of the massive outreach, Indian delegations will travel to 33 countries and the European Union’s headquarters. They will meet current and former Prime Ministers, foreign ministers, MPs, opposition leaders, intellectuals, journalists and expat Indians in these countries.

India has become the fourth largest economy in the world, overtaking Japan, NITI Aayog CEO BVR Subrahmanyam said on Saturday.

Briefing reporters after the 10th Governing Council meeting of Niti Aayog, Mr Subrahmanyam said the overall geopolitical and economic environment is favourable to India.

“We are the fourth largest economy as I speak. We are a USD 4 trillion economy as I speak,” he said.

Citing IMF data, mR Subrahmanyam said India today is larger than Japan.

“It is only the US, China and Germany which are larger than India, and if we stick to what is being planned and what is being thought through, in 2.5-3 years, we will be the third largest economy,” Mr Subrahmanyam.Responding to a question on US President Donald Trump’s recent statement that he expects Apple iPhones that will be sold in the US to be manufactured in America and not India, or anyplace else, Mr Subrahmanyam said, “What the tariff will be, is uncertain. Given the dynamics, we will be cheap place to manufacture.”

He also said that a second round of asset monetisation pipeline is being prepared and it will be announced in August. Responding to a question on US President Donald Trump’s recent statement that he expects Apple iPhones that will be sold in the US to be manufactured in America and not India, or anyplace else, Mr Subrahmanyam said, “What the tariff will be, is uncertain. • Op Sindoor Outreach Begins, These MPs Take India’s Message To Japan, UAE

India’s global outreach to brief world powers on Operation Sindoor and expose Pakistan’s link to terror begins today. Two of the seven delegations will begin the journey to their respective destinations today.

The team led by JDU MP Sanjay Jha will be the first to leave. The delegation will travel to Indonesia, Malaysia, the Republic of Korea, Japan, and Singapore. It comprises BJP MPs Aparajita Sarangi, Brij Lal, Hemang Joshi, and Pradan Baruah, Trinamool Congress’s Abhishek Banerjee, CPM’s John Brittas, former External Affairs Minister and Congress veteran Salman Khurshid, and former diplomat Mohan Kumar.BJP’s Aparajita Sarangi told NDTV that this outreach aims to explain to world powers India’s take on cross-border terrorism and how it plans to tackle it. “We want to emphatically put forth that we are against any form of terrorism and we do not find any distinction between terrorists and state sponsors of terrorism. We also intend to convey to the international community that we are one, irrespective of political parties, when the safety and security of 140 crore Indians is concerned.”

She said this outreach is to counter Pakistan’s narrative so that the UN Security Council is not misled. “We will be communicating to them what happened during Operation Sindoor, how Pakistan has been behaving with India and also that the Indian government under the leadership pf Prime Minister (Narendra) Modi is absolutely against any violence and terrorist activities within the boundaries of country and that there would be zero tolerance to terrorism,” she said.

BJP MP Brij Lal said the delegations have been tasked with exposing Pakistan before the international community. “We are going there with a 30-year record, starting from the Parliament attack to the 26/11 Mumbai attacks. We will present all of this and say that first, we did surgical strikes, they did not understand, then we did Balakot. Now, Pakistan is fighting inflation, starvation and Balochistan is slipping out of its control. Their Army chief Asim Munir had to divert attention so 26 innocents were asked their religion and murdered,” he said.

The other delegations, led by Congress’s Shashi Tharoor, DMK’s K Kanimozhi, NCP (SP)’s Supriya Sule, BJP’s Baijayant Panda and BJP’s Ravi Shankar Prasad, will be leaving over the next few days.

  • “Back To Spending 24/7 At Work”: Elon Musk After Brief X Outage

After the X outage on Saturday, Musk suggested that he may have been away from his companies for too long.

“As evidenced by the X uptime issues this week, major operational improvements need to be made,” he said.

“The failover redundancy should have worked, but did not.”

X had largely returned to normal service by 11:00 am US Eastern time (1500 GMT) Saturday.

The SITE Intelligence Group reported that hacker-activist group DieNet had claimed responsibility for the outage.

DieNet, it said, had called the attack a “test” of its so-called Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) capabilities — flooding the system with online traffic to make it inaccessible to legitimate users. AFP was unable to independently verify DieNet’s claim of responsibility, and X did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the outage.

    ‘Super focused’

“Back to spending 24/7 at work and sleeping in conference/server/factory rooms,” Musk posted on X.

“I must be super focused on X/xAI and Tesla (plus Starship launch next week), as we have critical technologies rolling out.”

SpaceX announced Friday that it plans to attempt a new launch of its mega-rocket Starship next week. Still under development, Starship exploded in flight during two previous launches.Starship is key to Musk’s long-term plans to colonize Mars, and SpaceX has been betting on the launch of numerous Starship prototypes — despite the explosive failures — to quickly identify and address problems.

The South African-born billionaire has for weeks been signaling that he would reduce his political role to refocus on his businesses.

Early this month, Musk acknowledged that his ambitious effort to slash US federal spending did not fully reach its goals, despite tens of thousands of job cuts and drastic budget reductions.

This week, he said he would pull back from spending his fortune on politics, although he did not rule out backing future causes “if I see a reason.”

  • US Journalist Shuts Bilawal Bhutto Down With Colonel Sofiya Qureshi Reference

Former Pakistan minister Bilawal Bhutto was stumped by a journalist’s question at a UN media interaction after the Pakistani leader alleged that the Pahalgam terror attack “was being used as a political tool to demonise Muslims in India”. Veteran journalist Ahmed Fathi promptly referred to “Muslim Indian military officers” who were part of the government’s briefings during the conflict. Bhutto had no answer to this and went on to rant and make baseless allegations against India.

Ahmed Fathi referred to Bhutto’s statement alleging demonisation of Muslims in India, and added, “Sir, I have watched the briefings on both sides and as far as I recall, there were Muslim Indian military officers who were conducting briefings on the Indian side.” The reference was unmissable: Colonel Sofiya Qureshi, who articulated the Indian position during Operation Sindoor and emerged as an inspiration for the country.

Bhutto replied, “Well, as far as the operation is concerned, you are absolutely right.” To this, Ahmed Fathi replied, “Okay.” Before he could ask the next question, Bhutto interrupted and ranted for a while, making wild allegations against India. But the journalist had made his point.Bilawal Bhutto is a Pakistan National Assembly member and the Chairman of the Pakistan People’s Party. He has earlier served as the country’s Foreign Minister. During the UN press meet, Bilawal Bhutto also acknowledged that Islamabad’s efforts to raise the Kashmir issue at international forums have faced obstacles. “As far as the hurdles we face within the UN and in general, as far as the Kashmir cause is concerned, that still exists,” he said.US Journalist Shuts Bilawal Bhutto Down With Colonel Sofiya Qureshi Reference

Bilawal Bhutto faced criticism at a UN event after claiming the Pahalgam attack was used to demonize Muslims in India. Journalist Ahmed Fathi countered with examples of Muslim Indian officer in Indian briefings, leaving Bhutto flustered.

In a copycat move after India launched a global outreach exercise after the recent conflict, Pakistan too has sent delegations abroad. Bilawal Bhutto is leading one of these delegations.

Earlier, Bilawal Bhutto made headlines for his provocative remarks, widely seen as a sign of political immaturity. Following India’s decision to suspend the Indus Waters Treaty in the wake of the Pahalgam attack that left 26 innocents dead, he said, “The Indus is ours and will remain ours – either our water will flow through it, or their blood.”

Among those who panned Bhutto’s reckless remark was AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi. The Hyderabad MP said Bhutto should remember who killed his mother and former Pakistan Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto and his grandfather and the country’s former President Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.

“Forget about such childish talk. He doesn’t know what happened to his grandfather? His mother? His mother was killed by terrorists. So at least, he should not be speaking like this. Do you even know what you are talking about? Unless the US gives you something, you cannot run the country and you are trying to stare us down.”He must think who killed his mother. Terrorism killed her. If he doesn’t get that, what will you explain to him? When they shot your mother, it is terrorism. And when they kill our mothers and daughters, it is not?” Mr Owaisi said.
